When it cannot wait, the details are the whole answer.
Whether they are open now. Whether anyone is there overnight. Whether they can operate, keep your animal in, or take a referral tonight. Emergency and specialty care, described by the hospitals themselves.
Capability is recorded, never assumed
No hospital is described as offering emergency care, an intensive care unit, surgery or overnight hospitalisation because it appears on this site. It is described that way because the practice recorded it.

What a hospital actually looks like at 2am
A census with a place, a status, an attending veterinarian and when each patient was last reviewed — including who is critical and who is ready to go home.

The same practices, a different question
A hospital is not a separate kind of thing from a clinic. It is a practice with more capability, and often the same practice.
urVetClinic asks “who looks after my animal normally?” This site asks “who can help right now, and are they equipped for what I am dealing with?” Both read the same organizations and the same locations. There is no second hospital database, no duplicate profile to keep in step, and nothing to claim twice.
For the referring veterinarian
A referral decision needs different facts from an owner's decision.

Referral and consult workflows are being built and are marked as such above. What already holds is the rule underneath them: sending a case never opens an animal’s record by itself. Access follows the animal, its owner and the care relationship, and it is decided separately from anything on a public profile.
